Course Open.

4.1. Ordinary Members shall comprise of Men and Women who, having paid the Entrance Fee, Annual Subscription and any additional levies raised from time to time applicable to this category, shall be entitled to attend and vote at Annual General and all Special General Meetings of the Parent Club and of the respective Men’s’ or Ladies Club. Only a member in this category shall have an interest in the Club property, which interest shall cease on such Member leaving this category unless the Member has been elected an Honorary Member of the Club.

4.2. Special Members comprise of Men and Women who, having paid the Entrance Fee, Annual Subscription and any levies raised from time to time, applicable to this category, shall not be entitled to attend and vote at Annual General and all Special General Meetings of the respective Men’s and Ladies Clubs.

4.3. Special Members shall consist of Country Members, Five day Members and Lady Associates who have paid the Entrance Levy, and annual subscription and any additional levy raised from time to time appropriate to their particular categories. The Annual Subscription for Country Membership shall be 60% of the Ordinary Subscription. No new Lady Associates or Five-Day Members may be elected to the Club.

4.4. Full Family Membership shall consist of a Husband and Wife or co-habitees, both of whom shall be Ordinary Members and up to three children who are Junior Members. Family members under 10 years of age shall at all times be accompanied by a parent/guardian/appropriate adult when on Club property. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 213% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.5. Special Family Membership shall consist of a Husband and Wife or co-habitees where the husband shall be an Ordinary Member and the wife shall be a Special Member and up to three children who are Junior Members. No new Members of this category shall be elected to the Club.

4.6. Junior Members shall be confined to those who are over eight years of age and under 19 years of age on January 1st. Junior Members under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian/appropriate adult while on Club property. Junior members shall not automatically be entitled to become Intermediate members of the Club. The Management Committee may, in consultation with the Men’s and Ladies Committee decline to approve such transfer if they are satisfied that the Junior member concerned has failed to properly avail of the opportunity afforded to play and learn the game of golf. Subject to this, a Junior member may on attaining the age of 19 years be offered Intermediate membership if one is available. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 15% of the Ordinary Subscription for Juniors under 14 on 1st January, and 20% of the Ordinary Subscription for Juniors who are over 14 on 1st January.

4.7. Any person who in the opinion of the Management Committee has rendered exceptional service to the Club, or to the game of golf, or whose distinguished position, or public service would render their membership of special advantage to the Club may be elected an Honorary Member of the Club. Honorary Members who prior to their election were Ordinary Members shall have the same rights and privileges as Ordinary Members. All other Honorary Members shall have the same rights and privileges as Special members and they shall have no interest in the Club property, nor shall they be entitled to vote or attend a meeting of the Parent Club.

4.8. Any proposal for Honorary Membership of Bandon Golf Club shall require a 75% majority of those present and voting at a Management Committee Meeting and be subject to ratification by 75% of those present and voting at an Annual General Meeting.

4.9. Pavilion Members shall comprise of persons who wish to enjoy the facilities of the Clubhouse. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 5% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.10. Temporary Membership is confined to Ladies and Gentlemen in respect of whom a green fee is paid. The payment of such green fee shall entitle a visitor to the Temporary Membership of the Club.

4.11. Any Ordinary or Special Member shall be entitled to have his or her Annual Subscription reduced by 20% provided: -

(a) He or she is aged 66 years or over on January 1st and, he or she and has 10 or more consecutive years of Membership. 

(b) Any New Ordinary Member aged 66 or over on the 1st January will pay the ordinary adult rate on joining Bandon Golf Club with an Entrance Levy.  It will be necessary to have 15 consecutive years of membership to qualify for the reduced subscription.

(c) Ordinary members aged 66 or over shall generally be known as Senior Members.

(d) Any Ordinary or Special Member who has attained 80 years of age by January 1st and who has been a Member of Bandon Golf Club for the preceding 25 years will be liable to pay 25% of the Ordinary  Membership. Any Ordinary Member availing of this facility shall have the same rights, privileges and voting rights as Ordinary Members. Any Special Member availing of this facility shall have the same rights, privileges and voting rights as Special Members. Such Members shall generally be known as Elder Members.   

4.12. Country Membership shall be confined to those permanently resident outside a radius of 50 miles from the clubhouse and being Ordinary Members of another affiliated Golf Club. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 60% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.13. Members of any particular category who have availed of an offer of five,10, 20-year membership and paid the appropriate subscription therefore shall be a five,10, 20-year member of that particular category with all the rights and privileges attaching to such category, but without the requirement to pay any further annual subscription until the expiry of the said term. No new five,10, 20-year membership shall be created save with the approval of the members of a General Meeting.

4.14. A Company may with the approval of the Management Committee be admitted as a Corporate Member of the Club. Corporate Membership shall be for the term of three years on terms as set out and approved by the Management Committee. The Corporate Member shall have no right or interest in any of the Club property, nor shall have a right to vote at any meeting of the Club.

4.15. Persons who normally reside outside Ireland for at least 75% of the year are eligible for election or transfer to Overseas Membership. Overseas Members shall be entitled to take part in all Club Competitions but are excluded from winning the Presidents Prize, Captains Prize and Lady Captain’s Prize. They will be subject to full Golf Ireland and Social Levies. Should they return to Ireland, and wish to become Full Members of the Club they will be subject to the normal entrance criteria and application procedures of the Club. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 40% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.16. Intermediate Members shall be confined to those who are under 25 years of age on January 1st, and in continuing education (including apprenticeships, etc.). Intermediate members may on attaining the age of 25 be offered ordinary membership if one is available. Entrance Fees are waived for Junior Member taking up Intermediate Membership and subsequently Ordinary Membership. However, any new applicant for Intermediate Membership will be requested to pay an Entrance Levy. Intermediate members shall be exempt from paying a Social Levy. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 30% of the Ordinary Subscription.

4.17. A Special Beginner membership (New to Golf) is available to both Ladies and Gentlemen who never previously held either an ILGU or GUI or Golf Ireland handicap. The annual subscription payable will be discounted by 25% to that applicable to ordinary and intermediate members and can be availed of for a maximum of one year. Full Golf Ireland and social levies apply to beginner membership. After one year, full ordinary membership rates will apply and will include any such Entrance Levy or other levies. In the meantime, there are no voting rights for any individual under Beginner Membership. Beginner members shall be entitled to take part in all club competitions with certain restrictions regarding major events to be decided by the Ladies and Men's clubs respectively.

4.18. Any Ordinary Member shall be entitled to have his or her Annual Subscription reduced by 30% provided he or she is under 30 on January 1st, and is a non-student. Members in this category shall be known generally as Under-30.

4.19 A Member who may, on medical or other exceptional grounds, be unable to avail of the benefits of their membership, may apply to the Management Committee for a Holding Membership for the current year. The Annual Subscription for this category shall be 25% of the Ordinary Subscription.
